"Deep ecology recognizes the intrinsic value of all living things and conceives of human beings as just one particular thread in the web of life."

Gabriela Kuhnen

Creator of the Florapele brand, she has an extensive academic background with a degree in Fashion, Product Design, Specialization, Master's and PhD in Design from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. She is a researcher in design processes with botanical printing for the construction of ecological fashion brands.

She worked for more than ten years in other brands and since 2013 she has returned to academia as a collaborating professor at the State University of Santa Catarina, on the Fashion course.

In this universe, it seeks to contribute with training that focuses on sustainability with ecological values in the fashion industry. Believing that future designers and stylists can contribute to a more balanced and fair production for the ecosystem as a whole.

In 2021, as a way of materializing processes from his own experience, he created Florapele, integrating the concepts of sustainable fashion and the recovery of ancestral philosophies and knowledge.

Handmade

Working with natural pigments takes us back to an ancient craft and ancestral knowledge. Today this work is no longer practiced solely with the primary objective of dyeing objects or clothing and has become a profession full of meanings, becoming a lifestyle that goes beyond the functional purpose and permeates ethical, moral and philosophical values.

We value not only sustainability in environmental, social and economic axes, but also sharing transformations in the way we perceive and act in the world.

Once a month we open our studio so that the public can experience our process through a Botanical Experience.

"We integrate eco-conscious values with systemic living through slow, manual work, allowing you to observe your own internal time, just as we observe the cycles of nature."

Studio

Our studio is located in Florianópolis in the rural neighborhood of Ratones immersed in the Atlantic Forest, in Santa Catarina, Brazil.

We work with slow fashion, we produce pieces in small batches and all production is carried out in our studio.

Most of the plants we use in our process are sown in our space or consciously collected in our own neighborhood.

We prioritize our relationship with the environment and with all other beings.

Cycles

Our bodies and emotions are affected by these forces that are constantly interacting and offering us different sensations:

Warmth and disposition in summer, cold and withdrawal in winter.

Fertility and productivity in spring, shelter and break in autumn.

Thus, our hormones and our reproductive cycle also move us through different phases that can be linked to the lunar movement which we relate to archetypes.

"By being aware of the forces that act internally and externally to our body, we can act assertively, expanding and enhancing our energy or collecting and welcoming our emotions."

Archetypes

Being cyclical means letting nature flow within us.

The celestial star that is associated with women's hormonal phases - the moon, also represents emotions, depths and mystery.

When we connect with this energy, we integrate with nature, the energy of creation and infinity.

Each woman has a force that influences the way they feel and act in the world. They are powerful internal patterns that govern our roles at a given moment in our lives.

We can also call this energy archetypes or Goddesses.

In a lunar cycle we go through four archetypes:

By understanding these periods we can transform our reality based on an internal alchemy that we have the possibility of experiencing every month.

Our very wise nature allows us to be born, expand, wane and die many times to constantly evolve.

Plants and Goddesses.

This energy that influences our behavior and perception comes from the cosmos and is reflected in nature. Plants are the most extraordinary beings on this planet and take on the energy of the cosmos, bringing together in their bodies the experience between earth and sky.

Plants respond to their surroundings and the atmosphere by producing various compounds such as aromas and other substances that nourish both our physical and mental health.

It is the plants that act in many ways on our physical and subtle organism that can help us summon our goddesses, our internal strength, the one we need to manifest.
